High-quality aerogel Cherenkov radiators recently developed in Japan

چکیده

Around 1980, Japan’s High Energy Accelerator Research Organization, also known as the KEK laboratory, began developing silica aerogels a Cherenkov radiator. In 1996, high energy physics group at Chiba University, Japan, aerogel research and development in collaborating with KEK. The design of state-of-the-art detectors is enabled by improving transparency. Simultaneously, ultrahigh- ultralow-refractive-index were developed to bridge gap available indices for identifying low- high-momentum particles, respectively. These are will be employed ongoing future particle experiments all over world. We report latest results from applications threshold-type ring-imaging detectors.

The aerogel threshold Cherenkov detector for the High Momentum Spectrometer in Hall C at Jefferson Lab

We describe a new aerogel threshold Cherenkov detector installed in the HMS spectrometer in Hall C at Jefferson Lab. The Hall C experimental program in 2003 required an improved particle identification system for better identification of π/K/p, which was achieved by installing an additional threshold Cherenkov counter. Two types of aerogel with n = 1.03 and n = 1.015 allow one to reach ∼ 10 pro...

Production of a New Generation of Silica Aerogel and its Application for the KEK B-factory Experiment

Low-refractive index silica aerogel is the most convenient radiator for threshold-type Cherenkov counters, which is used for particle identification in high-energy physics experiments. For the BELLE detector at the KEK B-Factory, we have produced about 2 m of hydrophobic silica aerogels of n = 1.01 1.03 using a new production method. The particle identification capability of the aerogel Cherenk...

Highlight of Endoscopic procedures developed in Japan.

Chin J Cancer Res 2014;26(2):133-134 www.thecjcr.org Endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) invented in Japan, plays an important role in the treatment of early gastrointestinal cancer (EGC) and dysplasia. Endoscopic procedures are now widely spreading around the world. ESD has the advantage that en bloc resection as well as pathological view can be achieved when compared with conventional endo...

Isotropic Radiators

Can the radiation pattern of an antenna be isotropic? A simple argument suggests that this is difficult. The intensity of radiation depends on the square of the electric (or magnetic) field. To have isotropic radiation, it would seem that the magnitude of the electric field would have to be uniform over any sphere in the far zone. However, the electromagnetic fields in the far zone of an antenn...

Optical Quality of PANDA Barrel DIRC Prototype Radiators

The PANDA experiment at the facility for anti-proton and ion research (FAIR) will study the strong interaction by precision spectroscopy. A detector system with excellent particle identification (PID) is therefore required. Charged hadron identification in the barrel region will be performed by ka compact ring imaging Cherenkov detector based on the DIRC (Detection of Internally Reflected Chere...
